| Invicta Valiants want to encourage participation by all pan disability/special needs children, boys and girls, who have been excluded from joining in football coaching and team football because of their specific needs.
We have been working closely with the The Kent FA, London Sports Forum for Disabled People and Charlton Athletic FC’s Disability Development Programme in gaining advice and information to ensure we are giving the best fun football coaching sessions to all of our players whatever their standard of play.
We do not charge fees to belong to the club, as we want to run the club on a completely voluntary basis. Players do not have to be brilliant footballer's to join in with our football, as it is our intention to give all players the opportunity to play team football.
Backed by the Kent FA and in association with sports development at the Kent County Council, and Ashford Borough Council, Invicta Valiants are self funded through grants and donations, and are run on a totally voluntary basis by players parents, helpers and sports volunteers
Coaching Sessions
Invicta Valiants hold fun football coaching once a week during the football season.
Sunday mornings, contact for venue and time details.
Sessions are one hour long and involve football skills based on FA coaching practices, fun football exercises and small-sided mini games.
The emphasis is on players having fun and enjoying themselves.
Matches and Tournaments
The opportunity for children with disabilities or special needs who attend mainstream schools to play in competitive matches are virtually non-existent.
Over the past few years several tournaments have been set up by professional football clubs and sports organisations in the South of England specifically for children with disabilities and special needs, they are played at various venues within the southern area. With the constant development of disability football now taking place, it is envisaged that in the near future national disability football tournaments will be taking place annually through out the whole of the country.
Invicta Valiants can give players the opportunity to be part of a team and compete against other teams of equal ability in such tournaments.
Club development
The FA, and Kent FA are currently in the process of developing a disability football strategy, and have pledged to carry out further work to encourage participation in disability football from grass roots to national disability squads. They also intend to organise more playing opportunities through festivals and competitions for pan disability participation.
All local media and sports and education authorities have been informed of Invicta Valiants, and our aims in developing fun football sessions for children with pan disabilities and special needs. They receive regular press information updates and are helpful in distributing information on the club’s progression. Although more publicity is always welcome and needed. We are constantly trying to find new ways to promote Invicta Valiants within the local area, through professional football clubs and specific sports development agencies, to TV, Radio, and Newsprint publicity.
